ANSWERS TO ABOVE QUESTIONS

Why must I book Photography if I only want wedding or event makeup and hairstyling services?

Because The Nevada State Board of Cosmetology says so.

WORKING IN HOTEL ROOMS OR PRIVATE Non-SALON LOCATIONS
Doing makeup and hair in a Las Vegas hotel room, private home or any non-salon, or non-spa environment requires a special booking procedure. The Nevada State Cosmetology Board regulation says all cosmetological service (including simple application of makeup and basic hair styling) must be performed in a licensed cosmetological establishment (like a salon or spa)... UNLESS....it is in conjunction with photography services, commercials, advertising, film, video, TV or similar production. (This regulation has only been recently enforced, no doubt from pressure by the local salon and spas in a depressed economy.)

We always obey every law and regulation, so Christine now offers a "makeup and hair approval" photography session where her bridal makeup and hair services are part of a "photo" service -- and at the same rates she has always charged for bridal makeup and hair. When finished she will take a couple of quick photos with her little camera and show you for your approval. NOTE: these "photos" are very simple and are only to provide compliance with the regulations and are not meant to undermine or compete with any photography services you may have already booked or that are included in your wedding package.

      I already have a photographer!!! I don't need photos!

We understand and we want you to know that your photographer can hire Christiné and you can pay him for her services. We find that many photographers are happy to have someone of Christiné skill, talent and experience doing the wedding party makeup and hair. Great makeup and hair makes for great photos! They might be thrilled to have her do the makeup and hair. I don't think they will find a better portfolio of work anywhere.

Christinés services are part of our "Pre-Wedding Mini-Photo Package" and it will not interfere with your chosen photographer's or chapel's "Photography of the Ceremony" or any of the "After the Ceremony" photography you might have planned. Our "Pre-Wedding packages" are less than the cost of the Makeup and Hair alone by many top artists and it is our way of continuing to keep makeup and hair services by Christiné available to our many out-of-town "destination brides" offering photography with makeup and hair at the same prices she has always charged for only the makeup and hair services..

How do I reserve your services for my wedding or special occasion?

I know it sounds a little crazy. Here, in Las Vegas, one of the very top event and wedding capitals of the world a woman cannot legally get her makeup an hair done in her hotel room without buying other services they may not need or want. We are also not allowed to offer non-commercial services or advertise pricing for non-commercial makeup and hair services

Because so many want to book Christiné and she loves doing bridal makeup and hair, we now offer very inexpensive "pre-wedding" photography sessions that include Christiné doing the makeup and hair as part of the photography service. This is the only way at this time that she can legally work on private non-commercial wedding or events. If you are interested in this offer

Please contact us for a list of available Photography Packages that include Makeup and Hair.

Yes. But only if it is conjunction with a photography service, or a commercial, photo, film, or video production.
It is a Violation of The Nevada State Board of Cosmetology regulations, a misdemeanor, punishable by fines of between $500 and $1500 per violation for a cosmetologist or makeup artist or hair stylist or designer to perform cosmetological services in a hotel room or private home or anywhere except a cosmetological establishment unless it is part of a photography service, or a commercial, photo, film, or video production.

I would like to do a "Photo Trial" to make sure that I like the results. Can we do this.

Yes. If you know what you want and can bring or send us photos and are sure that your haircut will work with the style you want, there is probably no need for a trial. However, the day of the wedding is not the day to be indecisive, and there is almost never time to try different styles. If you are unsure about how you want your makeup done and what hairstyle you want, we then recommend a trial. A trial generally takes longer than the wedding day service. For a trial the artist will do a series of "before" photographs, make recommendations, go over colors and possible hair styles, and then do a full makeup and hair styles on you. A second set of photo will then be made showing you how the makeup and hair photographs to ensure your satisfaction. It will take a minimum of 2 hours. Photo Trials for other bridal party members are also available. For the best rate a Trial should be booked with the wedding session.

        Do you do airbrush makeup?

Christiné does not do airbrush makeup.

"...None of the photos on my website are "airbrush makeup". I became very interested in it when it became a "buzz word". I bought a system and took some classes. Airbrush makeup is just another technique to apply makeup. It is a "tool". I believe it sounds great because of the association in people's minds with "airbrushed photos" -- they are not the same. Airbrush makeup will not smooth or cover bad skin any better than traditional methods, and has a lot of other things to consider as well. For beauty and glamour I will put my work up against anyone's airbrush work... I use the finest makeup products available, and with a combination of brushes, sponges and fingers can give better coverage, as smooth of coverage and longer lasting coverage..."

Airbrushing makeup still requires all the same steps as more traditional methods of application. Cover up and spot concealer and powder is normally still brushed or sponged on in the traditional way. The airbrush cannot "push" or work the products into the skin or into each other. It must still be powdered and the powder must be worked in. Older faces with sagging skin and deep wrinkles need to have a fine foundation worked into the creases - which the airbrush cannot do. I found most of the compressors noisy and many people really hate how it feels, especially when work is done around the eyes.

Much of the "hype" about airbrush comes from the people that manufacture and sell the equipment. It is almost impossible to find impartial reviews and comparisons because the search engines have been so heavily spammed by those selling the equipment and services. There are many who advertise airbrush who simply are not skilled with it, and ultimately use it as a minimal part of the entire makeup application.

This is not to say that there are not artists who love the airbrush, and are very good with it.  Airbrushing is certainly best for special effects makeup, doing large areas on the body as in tattoo coverup and tanning and where stenciled designs are required or desired. It is also a quick way to apply a generic foundation color quickly to a large number of people when custom blending of foundation colors is not required or is not practical for time reasons..

One thing to remember, the use of a airbrush does not mean that the person using it is a great "artist" or that the final result will look better or even good.  If you look at my commercial client list http://www.fotolook.com/clients.html you will see that those who hire makeup artists for commercial work... hire the "artist" and not the "tool"....

Can you cover tattoos, stretchmarks and scars ?

Many do not want to have their tattoos, stretchmarks or scars show in their photos, but it is best to find a way to cover the problem areas with your wardrobe or accessories.

I can do coverups of tattoos, stretchmarks and scars , however it will be at an additional cost of $25 per 15 minutes of additional time, and I cannot guarantee that it will look perfect under every lighting situation or that it will not rub off on your clothing or on those you come in contact with. Because this will take extra time it must be booked with the service so your booking times will include the time to do it. The larger and darker the area the more time that is normally required.

The color of scars and tattoos and stretchmarks can often be changed sufficiently to closely match the adjacent skin, however changes of lighting types, direction and light color temperatures, especially the light in direct flash photography may show variations in color and density on "spot or small areas of makeup". This is because of the different way skin and makeup reflect light and react to those variables. This is especially true for tattoos, stretch marks and scars where the area of the skin is raised slightly higher than the normal skin, or has a texture to it making it 3 dimensional. We cannot eliminate shadows that will come and go depending on the direction of the light...

Another consideration is the location of the cover-up. If the areas will have a lot of contact and or rubbing with fabric from your dress, veil, straps, sleeves, or those you hug or rub against when walking together or during mingling with guests, you will have problems. No matter how well set, makeup will not hold up under sustained contact or friction without continual attention.

I want clips, decorations or veil in my hair. Do you have them or put them in?

We do not supply any decorative clips, hair accessories or veils. If you have them and want them integrated into your hairstyle please show us before we start so we can take that into consideration when styling your hair and put them in place when we finish with the hairstyling.

Can you stay for the day and do touch ups and maybe later change styles?

Yes. You will need to make arrangements and organize the service through your photographer ...Christiné' or an associate can spend the day (up to 8 hrs.) with the bride and her immediate wedding party (mothers and bridesmaids) to do full makeup and hair styling on the bride and one other (Bride + 1) She will and do minor touch ups (blotting, powder etc.) as long as needed to keep you looking fresh for your photos all day long. If desired for the photography she will also change the bride's hairstyle and glamorize the makeup for the reception party, to give totally different look. You must book this through your photographer and the photographer must pay for her services and pass it on to you as part of your photo package.

I will want a manicure, pedicure and nails. Can you recommend a manicurist or nail salon in Las Vegas?

You might find it the most price effective to get your manicures, pedicures, and nails done just before you come to Las Vegas... however you will certainly find excellent manicurists in the Las Vegas hotel's salons and spas. Just like makeup and hair manicures and pedicures cannot be done in your hotel room unless it is part of the required services of a photo, TV Film or Video production.

What kind of makeup do you use?

Christiné brings approximately 100lbs of products, implements, and other equipment to each job and use a variety of different product lines for both makeup and hair including but not limited to: laura mercier, nars, faceatelier, vincent longo, mac, arbonne, shiseido, make up for ever, shu uemura, avanya, as well as other selected items from professional lines that most have probably never heard of. She uses the best product for the job based on the client's skin type, needs, the purpose (photos, film, video, events) and her almost 30 years of experience in the beauty and skin care industries.

An application will look as good 8 -12 hours later as when first applied with very little if any maintenance. (Read Here what Soap Opera Veteran Beth Chamberlain had to say about the makeup and hair Christiné did for her for the Daytime Emmy Awards) Christiné has no allegiance to any one company. She is a fanatic on cleanliness, never "double dips", and always sterilize brushes, and applicators or use disposables. Christiné does not do airbrush.

Do you work with hairpieces or extensions?

Yes, but you should bring your own. Christiné usually carries a large number of hair appliances that she often uses for commercial, glamour and fashion work. At the end of the shoot she can sterilize them and use them again on another shoot in the future.

However, the majority of her wedding clients are from out-of-town and most she not see again after doing their makeup and hair. Because of the expense and the importance of the proper hair color she could never stock the variety of hair pieces that she would need to cover every bride. If you bring your own she can certainly integrate them into your hairstyle. (depending on the amount of and quality of the extensions there may be an extra charge for this)

Makeup and hair and all cosmetic services can only be done outside of a salon or spa if these services are booked as part or a photo, film, video or TV production

I have a early sunrise wedding can you start with us at 4:00am?

Early call times are not a problem. Christiné and her photographers frequently works TV, Film and Photography shoots that require they be ready to go earlier than 4:00am.
